Higley High Theater Shines at AZ Thespian Festival
Higley High School's theater Troupe 6907 recently attended The AZ Thespian Festival, achieving a series of outstanding accomplishments:
Student Thespian Officer (STO) Rya McCormack, senior, represented Arizona as one of 12 student leaders in charge of facilitating this weekend, which drew over 2,000 participants!
The troupe also welcomed back Alumni Elle Zizzi (Class of 2021) from Northern Arizona University, who shared her expertise by conducting a workshop on audition techniques.
The Advanced Company was selected to perform their one-act play “Squad Goals”, receiving a SUPERIOR rating under the direction of high school senior, Maddox Cantor. Cantor's achievement will be further celebrated with the inclusion of the Fine Arts Seal on his diploma.
Troupe 6907's collective efforts were duly recognized, as they earned GOLD HONOR TROUPE for their outstanding performances, community service, and troupe activities. Additionally, the troupe received a SUPERIOR ranking, further solidifying their commitment to excellence.
The troupe's scholarship basket raised $130, contributing to their impactful presence at the festival.
Their Tech Team also participated in the Tech Challenge, displaying additional skills beyond those already showcased.
To cap off the festival on a high note, a special accolade was presented for the Arizona Thespians Teacher of the Year: East Region to April French, HHS Drama teacher.
Congratulations to our Higley Knights!
