Higley teachers, principal earn Fiesta Bowl grants
Four Higley employees were honored this year with Fiesta Bowl grants. This year, Fiesta Bowl Charities provided $1 million for teacher and school grants, a program sponsored by DriveTime to grant classroom wishes. All recipients are invited to participate in the Fiesta Bowl Parade and will be recognized this year during the Cheez-It Bowl.
During the livestream “2019” draft, teachers were telephoned with the news that their names were drawn for a $5000 grant.
Barbara Cooley from Gateway Pointe Elementary School, received two grants: one for $5000 to upgrade her classroom and one for $3000 to upgrade the school’s Makerspace.
Sossaman Middle School’s Nancy Foote and Beth Knudsvig each received $5,000 to upgrade their schools.
In addition, Sossaman Principal John Dolan received $1,000 as winner of the “Extra Yard for Teachers” honor.
