Discover preschool options in Higley

Families seeking preschool options for their children will find a number of different opportunities in Higley.

Early learning opportunities are available for children ages 3-5. Program options vary by age with Brilliant Beginnings available for children 3-4 and Kinder Prep available for children 4-5 who will be enrolling in kindergarten the following year.
Families may choose part-time or full-time schedules, all guiding students toward future academic programs. Before and after care is available through Kids Club.
 
In addition to full-day Kinder Prep, there are three specialized options provide unique education opportunities for students.
 
Kinder Prep with an Introduction to Mandarin, Cooley Early Childhood Development Center
This class meets five days a week from 7:45 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. and is for 4-5 year-olds who will be going to kindergarten the next school year.
 
Students will be introduced to Mandarin along with the HUSD Kindergarten Prep curriculum. This will provide meaningful, developmentally appropriate learning experiences for a child’s social, emotional, intellectual, creative and physical development to prepare them for the rigors of kindergarten. Students can continue the Mandarin experience at Coronado Elementary. Both Higley middle schools and high schools also provide Mandarin instruction.
Highly Gifted Preschool, Sossaman Early Childhood Development Center
Higley's Highly Gifted Preschool is being designed for children who turn 4 by Aug. 31 and will be going to kindergarten the next school year. This specialized program is available for children with an IQ in the 99th percentile. A Stanford Binet IQ test score of 130 required for acceptance.
This self-contained program will meet five days a week from 7:45 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. Students will work with like-minded children in an accelerated, discovery-based program that will allow them to develop strong social and academic skills.
Students accepted into this program will then be eligible for Higley's self-contained, double-accelerated gifted/talented program in kindergarten at the new, state-of-the-art Bridges Elementary School.
 
Spanish Dual Language, Sossaman Early Childhood Development Center
The class will meet five days a week from 7:45 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. and is for 4-5 year-olds who will be going to kindergarten the next school year. Students in the Spanish Dual Language program will receive instruction in both Spanish and English during their school day.
Foundational Spanish language experience, along with the HUSD Kindergarten Prep curriculum, will provide meaningful, developmentally appropriate learning experiences for a child’s social, emotional, intellectual, creative and physical development to prepare them for the rigors of kindergarten. Students can continue the Spanish experience at San Tan Elementary, where students will build upon this foundation throughout the elementary years. Both Higley middle schools and high schools also provide Spanish instruction.
