Higley Unified School District (HUSD) is proud to celebrate and honor veterans through a series of meaningful events and initiatives this November. From assemblies and concerts to creative student-led projects, the district is committed to showing gratitude in lasting ways. While some events may not be open to the community, we invite you to check out all the incredible ways our schools are honoring veterans.

Ongoing Initiatives

• Higley High School Field of Flags | Students and staff can fly a flag to honor a veteran. This school-only initiative runs through November 5.

• Power Ranch Veterans Concert at Power Ranch Elementary | Enjoy performances by bands and choir from Coronado Elementary, Bridges Elementary, and Power Ranch Elementary | 6:00 PM

November 7

• Bridges Elementary Heroes Assembly | Session 1: 8:30 AM & Session 2: 9:45 AM | Families, military personnel, and first responders are invited.
• Chaparral Elementary Wall of Honor & Veterans Day Breakfast | 7:00-8:00 AM
• Cortina Elementary School Veterans Day Breakfast | 7AM

• Gateway Pointe Elementary “Salute to Veterans” during Donuts with Grownups | 7:15–7:45 AM

November 11

Join us for Gilbert's 21st Annual Veterans Day Ceremony beginning at 5:00 PM at Water Tower Park in downtown Gilbert. This free community observance will include words of tribute by special guest speakers, musical performances by local schools, and military displays suitable for all ages.

Outside of scheduled events, schools demonstrated appreciation through creative initiatives. At Higley Traditional Academy, students designed and sent heartfelt cards to veterans, while Higley High School partnered with Midwest Food Bank to organize a food drive supporting veterans and their families. Williams Field High School also honored veterans during a recent football game, and Sossaman Middle School is holding a National Junior Honor Society Flag Raising and Veterans Day Assembly to recognize their service. These efforts reflect a district-wide commitment to expressing gratitude in meaningful and lasting ways.
