sms feeder school visit

Higley Unified School District (HUSD) proudly serves the community through 15 campuses, each contributing to a thoughtfully designed educational pathway known as the feeder school system. This structure ensures students experience a smooth and supportive transition from preschool through high school, building strong connections and continuity throughout their academic journey.

“We want to emphasize the fact and let the parents know that there is a path forward that is going to provide success for your student and give them limitless opportunities for success post-secondary school,” said David Loutzenheiser, HUSD Superintendent.

To strengthen cross-campus connections, HUSD schools actively collaborate to build community and shared pride. Middle and high schools host Feeder School events that welcome younger students onto their campuses, giving them a chance to explore the environment, meet staff and students, and get a feel for their future school experience.

High schools also build these connections by inviting elementary and middle school students to football games, offering a glimpse into the spirit and pride that define their future campuses. These efforts continue in classrooms and beyond, as older students volunteer at fundraisers, participate in activities, and read to younger peers. These experiences help build meaningful relationships across grade levels.

A recent example was the Fun Run at Gateway Pointe Elementary, where Williams Field High School cheerleaders energized the event with excitement and support. At Higley High School, the band welcomed Sossaman Middle School students to perform alongside them, creating a memorable experience and a strong sense of belonging.

The goal of HUSD’s feeder system is to ensure every student feels supported, inspired, and prepared for each step of their educational journey. By strengthening these connections, the district continues to build a culture of excellence, collaboration, and community.
