Technology is an ever-evolving component of our students' learning environment. The Information Technology (IT) Department of Higley Unified School District supports a technology-rich learning environment for our students, while providing our staff with the most current tools to support that environment.
Content Filtering & Data Security
Higley Unified School District maintains its Children's Internet Protect Act (CIPA) compliance by providing cloud content filtering.
Our combination of Cisco’s Umbrella service and Lightspeed’s content filtering appliance keeps our students safe from inappropriate material on the Internet while using district devices at school or at home. While student safety is, of course, our primary reason for this compliance, it also allows the District to benefit from participating in the Federal E-rate program, which helps reduce the district’s costs.
The District utilizes defense in-depth strategies to protect its infrastructure data against viruses, malware, and ransomware. The District also employs email protection through Mimecast, a cloud-based email management company for Microsoft Office 365, which includes security, archiving, and continuity services to protect the District’s email from phishing attacks and other threats.
