Ms. Tracy Carlucci
Welcome to the 2020-21 School Year!
My name is Tracy Carlucci and I am excited to be your fourth grade teacher this year here at Power Ranch Elementary! I am looking forward to a year filled with lots of creative thinking and inspired learning. My philosophy for teaching and learning is a simple one: #OTI: Observe, Think, Innovate! I hope to pass this idea onto my students as they develop the skills necessary to become critical listeners, focused scholars, and innovative problem-solvers.
I was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY where I participated in gifted education programs most of my life. I had amazingly passionate teachers who inspired me to develop a true understanding of the power of education. After high school, I moved to Long Island to attend Stony Brook University to study Sociology and Mathematics. I then attended St. John's University in Queens where I completed graduate programs in Sociology, Mental Health Counseling, and Gifted Education. I have been an educator and/or counselor for the past 24 years, the last twelve of which have been here at Higley.
I have two children of my own. My son, Giovanni, is currently pursuing a dual bachelor degree in Cybersecurity and Engineering Technology at the University of Advancing Technology in Tempe. My daughter, Joie, is a senior at Casteel High School where she loves to dance and study American Sign Language.
Having moved to Arizona a little over twenty years ago, I find myself loving it here more and more as the years fly by. I have made such special friends and absolutely love watching my students grow throughout their elementary school years. This year, I will be coaching both a competitive Rubik's Cube Team and a VEX IQ Robotics Team. Together, we are known as the Panther STEAM Team and we love showing off our cutting-edge engineering skills and forward-thinking ideas. Applications for interested students will be sent home towards the end of August in preparation for the interview process. Both of these teams have meeting times after school and competitions on Saturdays.
In my free time, I love watching reality TV and spending time with my three cats: Milford, Juliet, and Confucius and my beautiful dog Mocha. I enjoy researching new ways to integrate technology and project-based learning into my classroom. This year, all students will have access to a Google Chromebook on a daily basis, keeping them at the forefront of twenty-first century learning. I am extremely passionate about our planet and the impact it will have on the lives of future generations. This theme will be integrated into my teaching as I truly believe that today's fourth graders have the insight and intrinsic motivation to make the world a better place.
The best educational experience comes from a strong supportive relationship between parents, teachers, and students. When we return to school, my door is always open for a visit! For me, the year 2020 represents change, growth, and a new level of understanding. This is the year we all band together instead of pushing each other apart. This is the year we accept the need for true change and experience life as we have never known it. I wish you and your child a wonderfully successful school year!
