My name is Tracey Sweeney. I am the Math Interventionist for 7th and 8th grade math at Sossaman Middle School. I support students by helping them learn grade level math concepts, while filling in math learning gaps from previous years, and strengthening their confidence in their math abilities.
I have a B.S. degree in Applied Management, a M.Ed. degree in Elementary Education (K-8), a Graduate Certificate in Teaching Gifted Learners, an endorsement in Structured English Immersion, along with an approved area of Middle School Mathematics on my Arizona Teaching Certificate.
I love math and the logic expressed by it. I really enjoy participating in my students' ah-ha moments, when they grasp and master new concepts in the classroom. Students work with partners and in small groups in my classroom, receiving vital support from peers, as well as myself. They also spend a lot of learning time using our classroom whiteboards, rather then sitting at desks. Students enjoy an active learning environment and they are definitely active in our math intervention classroom.
