Welcome to Kindergarten in Room 227! I’m thrilled to have the privilege of being your child’s teacher this year. Kindergarten is a big year – there’s so much to learn about being a student at Cortina Elementary! I was born and raised in California, and relocated to Arizona a year ago. This is my second year at Cortina in Kindergarten, and am so excited to be a part of your child's education. Previously, I taught the past 10 years in Redondo Beach, CA in Kindergarten and Special Education.
I obtained my B.A. in Liberal Studies from CSU Dominguez Hills while playing for the Women’s Soccer program on an academic and athletic scholarship. I completed my M.A. in Teaching, with two credentials in the areas of Multiple Subjects and Education Specialist for Mild to Moderate Disabilities through Chapman University. I have been married for fifteen years to my husband, Bret, and we have two amazing children, Cole (12 ½ years) and Cate (7 years old).
When I’m not spending time with my family, I love to read, bake, exercise, and travel. I truly believe in fostering kindness, where students thrive to be "bucket-fillers" and become confident learners in both relationships and in academic activities. I hope to foster a lifelong love of learning and know this is going to be a wonderful year! I am so excited to be a part of your child's journey...go Tigers!
