Hello, my name is Brenda Currie and I am excited to be teaching your student this year. I am so happy to be a part of the 4th grade team, and to have the opportunity to see the students' growth that will come this year. I am an Arizona native, who lived in New Jersey for a brief period of time before moving back to Arizona. My husband, son, dog and I enjoy spending time outdoors, especially up on the Mogollon Rim.
Prior to becoming an educator, I earned my Bachelor's in E- Commerce. It was during this time that I discovered my love for teaching when volunteering for Junior Achievement. So, I returned to school to get my Master's in Elementary Education. Since graduating in 2009, I have taught 2nd, 3rd and 4th grade. Along the way, I became a part of the Lincoln Center's Aesthetic Art Education program and therefore love integrating art into my curriculum.
I believe in the power of yet... as in they may not know it yet. I continually encourage my students to not say, " I do not know" instead it is, "I do not know yet". The key to this is perseverance, which is not only an important skill during their educational careers, but will also be helpful when they are adults.
