    Safety for all of our students, staff, and visitors is one of the top priorities in the district. The district continues to evolve in practices and procedures implemented to keep everyone safe.

    Prevention Information & Safe Hotline

    Prevention is the first step in providing learning opportunities where all students thrive. The various programs and practices on each of our campuses are there to provide our students and staff with a positive climate and culture. When concerns arise, teachers, staff, and administrators are there to listen and take the necessary actions to continue to support a positive learning environment. The HUSD Safe Hotline phone number and email is another place where concerns may be reported. HUSD uses Threat Assessment Teams to review many situations to not only determine if there is a threat, but design plans to take the appropriate actions to address the needs.

    Emergency Partner Information
     
    During emergency situations, it is imperative we preserve a safe and secure environment, for your child’s sake and for all students and staff. HUSD works closely with the Gilbert Police Department, the Queen Creek Police Department the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Department, the Gilbert Fire Department and the Queen Creek Fire Department to ensure that we are providing learning environments that are safe and secure. These community agencies and the state help train and provide guidance regarding the best practices.
     
    When a police department or fire department directs a school to lockdown, evacuate, or shelter-in-place, the school will take all directions from that law enforcement. The safety of our students and staff must come first. The district will support the school by notifying families. The "when" and "what" regarding the information given to the public must be done with law enforcement’s approval and support.
     
    Emergency Communication
     
    Due to safety reasons, we can’t share our detailed plans with the community, but there are a few, more general practices we can share. In the event of an emergency, the best source of information is found on the school and/or district website. As information becomes available, this is where parents and community members will find what we are able to share.
