• Please join us for a parent and community open forum on 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 30, and Wednesday, May 1 at Higley High School Library to meet the finalists for Higley High principal. This position will begin July 1.
     
    We encourage you to attend and meet both candidates in person and ask questions to learn more about their background and experiences.
     
    Congratulations to the finalists: Mr. Alan Fields, M.Ed, and Dr. Chad Smith, Ed.D.
     
    Mrs. Nancy Diab-Scott will be leaving Higley High effective June 30, 2019. She would like to share that she has enjoyed her many years with the district and will miss her Higley family. We wish her the best in her new position.  

    Mr. Alan Fields, M.Ed
     
    Alan Fields has served as Principal at Kenai Central High School in Soldotna, Alaska (Kenai Peninsula Borough School District) since 2005 and was Assistant Principal from 2002-05. From 1997-2001, Mr. Fields served as a Special Education teacher, Assistant Principal and Principal for the Southwest Region School District in Dillingham, Alaska. Until entering the field of education, Mr. Fields worked as a counselor at Yellowstone Treatment Center in Billings, Montana.
     
    Alan Fields earned a BS in Special Education and Physical Education from Montana State University and a Master of Education – Educational Leadership degree from the University of Alaska in 2000.
     
    Mr. Fields holds an Administration certificate in the State of Alaska as well as Alaska teaching certs in the areas of Special Ed and Physical Ed.

    Dr. Chad Smith, Ed.D
     
    Chad Smith is the current Principal at Tillman Middle School in the Balsz School District in Phoenix, AZ and has served in this position since July 1, 2017.
     
    Dr. Smith began his administrative experience in 2008 as Assistant Principal at Tustin High School in Tustin, CA (Tustin Unified School District) where he was employed until 2012. From 2012 through 2015 he served as Principal at South Hills High School (Covina Valley Unified School District) in West Covina, CA; and from 2015 through 2017, Dr. Smith was the Coordinator of Pupil Services for the Capistrano Unified School District in San Juan Capistrano, CA.
     
    Dr. Smith earned a BS in Urban Planning from the University of Utah; a Master’s degree in Urban Planning in 1997 and a Doctorate of Education degree in 2016 - both from the University of Southern California.
     
    Dr. Smith currently holds the following valid AZ certificates: Superintendent, Principal and Standard Secondary Education.
     
    Dr. Smith has had to deal with difficult situations dealing with employee behaviors and has always put the best interests of students, employees, and community at the forefront.
