    About me

My name first name is Jonathan but I go by middle name Milo. I am a natvie Arizonaian and was raised in Tempe, and am the youngest of the four boys. I grew up participating in various sports and spending time outdoors, camping, fishing, and hunting. I served a church mission in South America and when I returned I decided to puruse a career in Education. While at ASU, Go Devils, I met my wife. We were married in August of 2013. We spent a year teaching English in Thailand and fell in love with the Thai people and culture. We now enjoy playing card games, watching Friends, hiking and spending time with friends and family. Upon returning home from Thailand, I began teaching 7th and 8th grade social studies in charter school in Phoenix. I am excited to be here at Higley where I will be teaching World History.

    Teaching Philosophy:

We live in a time when information is available at our fingertips and because of this it means the teacher is no longer the only source of information. I don't believe that learning only occurs when a teacher is at front of the class and talking. My role as a teacher is plan with my student's needs and abilities at the center. By doing this I can plan lessons that are rigorous and that require students to stretch their abilities. By doing this I can create learning activities that stimulate lasting learning and reinforce specific reading, writing, and thinking skills. All students have the right to learn and it's my responsibility to be a guiding force in their attempts to exercise that right.
