Welcome students and families to this 2020-2021 school year! My name is Elizabeth Garcia and I am a graduate of Grand Canyon University with a Master of Arts Degree in Autism Spectrum Disorders and New Mexico Highlands University with a degree in K-12 Special Education and K-8 Elementary Education. This year I am entering my seventh year teaching, with six of those years being in the special education setting. I grew up in a small town in New Mexico and moved to Arizona with my husband of six years in 2014.
Over the course of my teaching career, I have taught in the elementary and middle school settings and have experience working in both the general education classroom as well as the special education classroom. My passion is to assist learners with unique needs and find joy in the “light bulb” moments that students experience. This school year will be my third year in the Higley Unified School District, where I have had the pleasure to work with wonderful individuals including staff, who work collaboratively to promote student success.
