Dear Parents and Bridges Community Members,
I am elated to welcome you to the 2018-2019 school year! As we continue to lean upon our revolutionary vision, our staff is immensely excited to grow our partnership with you in equipping our students with the skills they need to thrive in the everchanging 21st century workplace. Our journey as a school and community up to this point has been filled with incredible amounts of student growth and success through innovation, a consistent student-focus, and a passion for excellence. We look forward to building upon this firm foundation as we continue to leap forward into the future.
In 2017-2018, we added many layers to our school to reinforce our S.T.E.A.M (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math) and Project-Based Learning (PBL) initiatives. In 2018-2019, we will look to refine, improve upon, and add to what is now in place.
First, I would like to announce the fact that our school will be partnering with Arizona State University for Project-Based Learning Professional Development. This partnership is incredibly noteworthy, as ASU will be providing ongoing training for our teachers throughout the year on PBL best practices.
Speaking of hands-on learning experiences that bring content to life, we will be continuing to purchase materials for our one-of-a-kind Makers’ Place as well as utilizing our brand-new school garden. The official Bobcat Garden has been built, thanks to the vision of our 2017-2018 6th graders participating in the Chief Science Officers Program. Our Makers’ Place purchases, improvements, and Garden construction have been made a reality thanks to your generous financial and material donations over the years. We are thrilled to have the ability to enrich your students’ education in innovative ways through these avenues.
Additionally, we will continue our participation in the Arizona S.T.E.M Community of Practice, Chief Science Officers Program, Robotics, and Mathleague.org competitions. Future-Focused Friday’s are also here to stay, as we will mirror what we did last school year in bringing the Arizona Science Center to our school for a day, opening our doors to S.T.E.A.M professionals to showcase their fields of work, and finally capping the year off with our 3rd annual S.T.E.A.M
Night. If you work in a S.T.E.A.M related field and would like to come share your expertise with our students, I strongly encourage you to contact our front office.
Lastly, I would be remiss if I did not mention our teachers, as they are the most talented group of professionals I have ever worked with in my career. Our teachers have a sincere passion for providing the best educational opportunities possible for your children. I have never been a part of a staff that is more student-focused, professional, loving, caring, collaborative, and talented as this one. Bridges is a special place, and it is because of top-notch teachers like ours, coupled with wonderful families like yours. Through our work together, your children are going to absolutely thrive this year and beyond.
On behalf of the staff here at Bridges Elementary School, we are looking forward to the opportunity this year to catalyze the growth of your learners into the future leaders of tomorrow.
