My name is Laureen Brewer and I've been teaching math for 13 years, 10 of them here in the Higley District. I love math, and I love your students. I came to teaching later on in my life. I grew up in Virginia, where I attended the University of Virginia on an ROTC scholarship. I then spent some quality time in the US Marine Corps; I completed 8 years active duty, then moved to the reserves for 15 years as I raised my family. I retired as a Lieutenant Colonel.
I'm a big believer in self-improvement, and I'm passionate about being the best teacher I can be. In addition to a masters in Educational Leadership, I am National Board Certified in high school level math. My focus is on creating a positive environment that encourages student learning and improvement, and I will work with your student as much as it takes for him or her to be successful. I'm married to a software engineer, and we have 5 grown children and 8 grandchildren (so far).
