Hello Sossaman Families!
My name is Theron Martineau. This is my third year as a science teacher at Sossaman Middle School and I am super excited to get started! My background is in Geography and I was a cartographer (map maker) for 12 years before I began teaching. I hope to bring a mix of hands-on instruction and engaging discussion to the classroom.
My wife and I have three children in the Higley School District. I grew up in the East Valley and attended Dobson High School. I graduated from Arizona State University with a B.S. in Geography and a minor in Urban Studies. I completed my teacher certification program through Scottsdale Community College.
With three kids much of my time is spent with them at various activities, helping them with homework, and having movie/game nights at home. During my downtime you might find me up in the cool pines around Forest Lakes camping and exploring with my Jeep. I try to get out and hike with my family and friends too. I enjoy sports; baseball is my favorite. If we were next to a beach, long walks on the beach would also be close to the top of my list.
As a parent I value communication with my child's teacher. I feel it is my responsibility as a parent to make sure my child is doing his part when it comes to being successful at school. The same is true for my child's teacher. With that said, if there is anything that I can do to help your child succeed please let me know. My goal is to contact each parent as often as I can throughout the year to let you know how your child is doing in my class, whether it be positive or negative. I am accessible. In the event that you have any questions or concerns feel free to reach out to me through email or phone.Go Spartans!
