Natalie Laskarides

My name is Natalie Laskarides and I teach 2nd grade at Cortina. I am an Arizona native and received all my schooling in Arizona. My tricky last name comes from my Greek husband (it can be hard to pronounce so here’s how to say it: Lass – scary – dees). I graduated from Arizona State University in 2003 with my Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education. After a few years of teaching I went back to school for my Masters degree in Curriculum and Instruction from University of Phoenix.

I began my teaching career in 2001 in the Mesa Public Schools district teaching a 1st/2nd/3rd multiage classroom. Since then, I have taught a mixture of multiage and straight grades in the 1st – 3rd range, but I have always taught second grade as it is my favorite grade. After so many years of teaching in Mesa, I decided to move over to the Higley district in 2017 since it is so much closer to home and I have also heard such wonderful things about this community.

When not at school, I enjoy spending time with my husband, Steve, and our four pets. We have two dogs and two cats. We enjoy spending time with our family and pets, going to the movies, and being outdoors when it isn’t incredibly hot. I am a baking hobbyist, so my family and friends love to give me challenging baking projects and then of course they get to try the end result. Any other spare time I might have goes to reading books, making something crafty, or putting together a jigsaw puzzle.
