Winter in Arizona 2017
Hi, my name is Karie Ludlum and I will be your child’s fourth grade teacher this year. This will be my third year of teaching in Arizona and my 14th year of teaching. I have taught 5 years of 3rd, 8 years of 4th grade and 1 year as teacher of the visually impaired and reading strategist. Teaching is my 2nd career, prior to teaching I was an optician and clinic manager. I attended college in North Dakota and graduated from Minot State University (Go Beavers!) where I caught the teaching bug.
My husband and I have 3 daughters who are grown, 2 of which are married with families. My oldest daughter lives in Seattle, WA and the other girls live in Williston with their husbands and children. During my free time I love to swim, read, hike, and most of all – spend time with family and friends.
Teaching is my passion. I strive to make every student feel comfortable, safe, cared for and challenged. My goal is to instill a love of learning and intellectual curiosity. This is best attained by effective communication between parent and teacher. I will send home newsletters and notes to let you know what is going on in the classroom and highly encourage you to contact me at any time. When you and I work together – our students can learn to fly!
I’m looking forward to meeting all of you and to participating in all of the wonderful activities that Cortina Elementary offers. Here’s to a great school year – Go Tigers!
