My name is Laura Hernandez and I received my teaching credentials through the highly selective New Teacher Project and began my teaching career more than a decade ago near Austin, Texas. I was very fortunate to be a part of an International Baccalaureate school for several years, which enabled me to bring lessons to children with a cross-disciplinary emphasis. As a bilingual educator, I like to have students look at problems from different perspectives and cultivate their curiosity.
Although I am fairly new to Arizona, I adore the heat and geography my adopted state has to offer. When not in the classroom, I enjoy the great outdoors including camping, hiking, and cross-country skiing. I also love to travel and call central Mexico my part-time home as I lived there for over a decade and still spend many breaks from school there.
