My name is Laura Hernandez and I received my teaching credentials through the highly selective New Teacher Project and began my teaching career near Austin, Texas. I was very fortunate to be a part of an International Baccalaureate school for several years which enabled me to bring lessons to children with a cross-disciplinary emphasis. As a bilingual educator, I like to have students look at problems from different perspectives and cultivate their curiosity.
Although I am fairly new to Arizona, I adore the heat and geography my adopted state has to offer. When not in the classroom, I am enjoying time with my two children. I am a huge tennis fan and love to follow it both professionally as well as follow my children who compete as juniors around the state. I also love to travel and call Mexico my part-time home as I lived there for over a decade and still spend many breaks from school there.
