My name is Kristin Skinner and I was born in New Mexico, but moved to sunny Arizona when I was 5 years old. I always say I am an Arizona native since I have lived here for the majority of my life. I have always loved sports and played softball at Highland High School, received a scholarship to play at MCC, then received another scholarship to play at UTEP. At UTEP I received my bachelor’s degree in education. Teaching has always been a part of my life, as my mom has been teaching for over 20 years. She has always been my inspiration and still is to this day. This is my eighth year teaching, and I could not imagine doing anything else. I have experience teaching Kindergarten, 1st grade, and 2nd grade, but 1st grade is by far my favorite. I strive to meet all my student’s needs through fun, rigorous, and differentiated instruction. My main goal is to ensure that all my students LOVE coming to school each day, because let’s face it…they have a LOT of school left after 1st grade. I love what I do, and love that I have a job that I can truly say is my purpose in life.

When I am not teaching, I enjoy spending time with my family. My husband, two kids and myself love hiking, camping, snowboarding and pretty much anything outdoors. We are HUGE board game enthusiasts and have quite a collection of games. Not only do we love outdoors, and board games, we also love animals. We have two dogs, one cat, and a tortoise. We enjoy life and find joy in the little things, and to me that is everything.
