• Welcome to Kindergarten!
Hello!  I am Mrs. Toro and I am really excited to have you in my class during this school year.
To start off, a little bit about myself.  This is my second year at Power Ranch Elementary.  I have 12 years of teaching experience in public and private schools, as well as at the college level.  I was born in Puerto Rico and had the opportunity to travel around thanks to my father's service in the military.  I am bilingual and love to expose students to the Spanish language.  I have my BA in Elementary Education, a MA in English as a Second Language and an Ed.D. in Educational Management. Currently, I am working on a 2nd Master's in School Administration.
I really enjoy being in the classroom and watching the children grow in every aspect.  Even though I've taught different grade levels, my favorite is Kindergarten.  For me, this is where I, as a teacher, have the opportunity to shape the minds and develop children's social-emotional skills that will help them become successful life-long learners and productive leaders in society.
I strongly believe that parent involvement is very important during a child's early years.  Therefore, parent-teacher collaboration and effective communication must take place when it comes to reinforcing academic and social skills.  Please do not hesitate to contact me if you ever have a question or any concerns.  Like the African proverb states, "It takes a village to raise a child."
