I am so excited to be your 6th Grade Science teacher! Throughout the year you will be learning about matter and its interactions in our Physical Sciences units, Earth's place in the solar system in our Earth/Space Sciences units, and ecosystems in our Life Sciences units. Engineering and Design practices will be built into every unit so you will need to come to class prepared to work hard and have fun.
This will be my 7th year at HTA. Most of you will know me as a 1st grade teacher but I actually started teaching at HTA as a 6th grade math teacher. I moved to 1st grade in 2014 and I am so excited to teach some of my former students again. I earned my degree in Criminal Justice from the Metropolitan State University of Denver and I was a legal professional for many years before discovering my passion for teaching. I received my post-baccalaureate teacher certification from Rio Salado College.
My husband and I have been married for 27 years and we have two sons. Derek is starting his Junior year at Grand Canyon University (Go Lopes!) and Dekker is an HTA first grader. I am a big soccer fan and I enjoy watching the national teams and the Colorado Rapids. In fact we love (almost) all Colorado sports teams - Nuggets, Rockies, and Avalanche - but the Broncos are second behind the Minnesota Vikings. ;) I am looking forward to getting to know all of you this year.
