I am excited to teach 7th grade mathematics this year at Cooley Middle School. This site will host course content and updates as well as resources to help better understand the math.  I look forward to this 2016-2017 school year!

 

All of our class information is now through Edmodo (edmodo.com). Our class code can be found on the technology board in my classroom as well as in the first entry in each student's comp. book. Feel free to email me for the current code. Every student created their own username and password to access our page.  

 

 

I graduated from Northern Arizona University with a Bachelors in Elementary Education. I love math education and guiding students through the problem solving process.

 

Math practices and modeling with mathematics are embedded into the standards for this class to include the study of ratio, percent and proportional relationships, rational numbers, expressions and equations, statistics and probability, and geometry.

 

We will also focus on understanding math by utilizing the following practices:

1. Make sense of problems and persevere in solving them

2. Reason abstractly and quantitatively

3. Construct viable arguments and critique the reasoning of others

4. Model with mathematics

5. Use appropriate tools strategically

6. Attend to precision

7. Look for and make use of structure

8. Look for and express regularity in repeated reasoning
