Mr. Johnson’s

Hello, my name is Ryan Johnson and I am honored to be your student's Visual Art teacher for this 2020-2021 school year.  A lot happened for parents, students and teachers alike towards the end of last year.  So this new school year, we're all looking forward to a fresh start and a stronger finish!  This Art class is to be an adventure in finding your child's creative side as well as learning Art fundamentals.  This year we will be doing an array of fun projects and activities, such as: Perspective Drawing, Water color and Acrylic Painting, Clay Sculpture, and much more.  We'll also be learning about different Artists such as Pablo Picasso and Vincent van Gogh.  Your child will be taught how to use pencils for making different types of line types and shading, and how using their fingers to blend and fade chalk and pastels can add beautiful effects of value and color to their artwork.  We'll also explore around book fair time the paintings and illustrations of famous authors and book illustrators like Eric Carle and Chris Van Allsburg.

The skills they will learn in Art will impact them for the rest of their lives and I believe will help to create a stronger bond to their academics.  Art has always been a vital part of my being.  I hope to make it a part of your child's growth and development for their future.
Thank you so much for the opportunity to teach your child!
