    Welcome to Kindergarten!                                                                                            2019-2020

I am so excited to be your child's teacher. This year will be a time that they will always remember and it is my goal to make it positive, engaging, and successful for everyone involved. (That means you too Mommies and Daddies!) We are going to jump into Project Based Learning and STEM activities that will help make all those academic skills necessary to be ready for next year, super fun!

    A little about me-

I was born in Anchorage, Alaska and lived there until I was 9. I then moved to Lake Charles, Louisiana and when I was 15, moved to Gilbert, Arizona.  I like to say I am not the youngest of 4 because I was born 6 minutes before my twin sister. She doesn't like when I call her my "little sister" but sometimes I still do! She is a natural blonde and we don’t look like twins, but I promise that we are. I also have an older brother and sister.

I graduated from ASU with a Bachelor of Arts in Education and a Masters of Education in Curriculum and Instruction. (Go Sun Devils!!) This will be my 22nd year teaching! Stop doing the math! Yes, I am that old, haha! I have taught 3 years in second grade,  1 year in a 4-6th grade combo class, 13 years in 1st grade , and this will be my fifth year in a Kindergarten classroom.

My most favorite job is being a mommy to my 13 year old son, Jaxsen. We LOVE going to San Diego to stay on my parent's boat, play in the ocean, and find all the yummy places to eat in California. He enjoys playing Little League baseball, and I enjoy being a "Baseball Mom". (Yes, I have a t-shirt that says that. Embarrassing your kids is a parent's job, right?!) I have 2 big fat golden retrievers who I talk about all the time and your children will, for sure, come home with "Finn and Lili" stories.

Teaching Kindergarten in the Higley School District is my happy place  and I can't wait to "dive in"! My door is always open and welcoming to you. For those wanting to volunteer in the classroom, there will be many opportunities once the school year gets underway. I look forward to working with you to help your child have a great year.
