Hello. My name is Kaity Harris and I am the proud principal of Gateway Pointe Elementary School! My passion for teaching and learning began as a child and is still the guiding factor in my life, as I come from a family of educators. I’m an Arizona Wildcat, with a Bachelor’s of Science in Education and a Masters in Educational Leadership from Northern Arizona University.
While playing collegiate soccer for The University of Arizona, I met my husband, Gilbert Harris, who played football for the Wildcats and for the Kansas City Chiefs. We have two children, Sterling and Saige.
Here at Gateway, we are a No Excuses University (NEU). We believe that every student deserves the opportunity to be educated in a way that prepares them for college, if they so choose to attend. An important part of being a NEU school is that everyone makes a pledge to give their best effort to help send Gateway students to college. Every academic year, a 3-way pledge is introduced. Students, parents, and teachers are asked to sign it as a way to begin the conversation of helping to support students to be college bound.
This connection between home and school is very important to the success of your child’s education. As a staff, we have made this promise to one another and to the students and parents we serve. Throughout this year, we are committed to making decisions that are based on results and represented by data. It is our goal to work together with families to create this mindset.
