Tim Fountain
    Greetings Gateway Families!
I am excited to welcome all our Gators to Gateway Pointe as we kick off the 2018-2019 school year. I look forward to working with our students, their families and our community to continue to build on the tradition of excellence at GWP. Gateway strives to be an inclusive community that provides positive learning experiences for our students and engages families in their educational journey. We have assembled a tremendous staff that is dedicated to the success of our students both in their academic development, as well as their personal growth. These are the traits that focus on our mission to be “the anchor of our community, empowering individuals to become innovative learners and participants in a global society.”
I am thrilled to be continuing as the principal of Gateway Pointe and to be working with such a tremendous team. Over the summer we brought in a few new staff members and worked hard to prepare our staff and facility for your student’s arrival. A few changes for the 2018-2019 school year include:

    · Expansion of our reading intervention program to include 5th grade students.
    · An increased presence on Social Media (join our Facebook page).
    · The addition of more than 200 stream computers to enhance our Language Arts and math curriculums with the expanded use of Moby Max and addition of Redbird.
    · Additional computers to our library to provide an additional full lab on campus
    · Continued development of our math interventions with a full time math specialist and full time aide.
    · The addition of Mrs. Bethany Rauch to provide an orchestra program on campus 5 days a week.
    · The continuation of our use of the character education program “Be Kind,” which assists us in helping our students grow not only academically, but socially and emotionally.

These resources allow us to provide instruction at your student’s level, his or her growth. Aligning our interventions to the adoption of the new math curriculum will further improve students' skills and create stronger opportunities for you to support your child’s learning at home.

For those of you who are new to Gateway Pointe and want to know a little about myself, I have been in education for nearly 19 years as a classroom teacher and administrator. I began my teaching and administrative career in the Gilbert School District before spending five years as a principal in the Washington Elementary School District in Phoenix. I recently completed my doctoral degree in educational leadership and look forward to applying those skills to better our campus community. This will be my fourth year as principal at Gateway Pointe and my 13th year in administration. I am very happy to be in Higley and to serve this amazing community.

I have a wonderful family including at home including my wife, Maggie, who is an instructional specialist in the Tempe Union High School district and our three beautiful children; two daughters (8th and 6th grades) and a son who is four. They are the light of my life and I come to work each day advocating for the children I serve as if they were my own.

Our priority is your child, and we look forward to working with you to build a partnership that allows your child to grow and an environment that is positive, supportive, challenging and engaging.

As we embark on a new year, we want to encourage our families to be involved in all that we do at Gateway Pointe. We have a strong PTO that is seeking your assistance and we welcome your support at all levels. No amount of time is too small to give and your contributions make a great impact on what we do. To learn more about our PTO visit the PTO website or the PTO Facebook Page.

I am eager to get to know all our new Gator families and would be happy to sit down with you anytime to discuss your child’s needs. The best way to make sure we can have an uninterrupted conversation about your child is to schedule an appointment with my secretary Anita at (480) 279. 7713.

Thank you for choosing Gateway Pointe and sharing your children with us. I am confident we are going to have an amazing year together!
