2018-2019 Bridges Elementary Physical Education
Welcome back students and parents! My name is Josh Ross and I am extremely excited to teach your child physical education. This is my eighth year teaching PE, and fifth year in the Higley Unified School District. This is going to be a fun filled year for your child. During this school year, your child will learn and participate in a variety of enjoyable and skilled activities. They will engage in activities ranging from traditional sports, such as basketball, soccer, softball, and track and field, just to name a few. Additionally, your child will be taught many other physical activities that will include rhythmic moves and nontraditional sports such as frisbee, jump rope, team handball, castle ball and many other activities that will help to improve their physical fitness and physical development.
I graduated in 2010 from Arizona State University with a degree in Physical Education, and a K-12 endorsement. I am a native of Arizona and went to Mesa High School. After graduating from high school, I enlisted in the United States Navy where I spent four years working as a jet engine mechanic. While in the Navy, I participated in Operation Iraqi Freedom, and Operation Enduring Freedom. I have had the privilege to visit many wonderful destinations throughout the world. When I got out of the Navy, I started going to school to pursue a degree in Physical Education. I have been married for 15 years and my wife and I have two children Kolten (age 8) and Brody (age 3).
As a physical education teacher, my philosophy is to teach your child physical activities that will help improve your child’s overall fitness level and overall health. Physical education is more than just running or playing a game of basketball. I want your child to learn activities and health concepts that will carry on for years to come. But most of all, I want your child to come home and say that they had fun and actually learned something that they did not previously know in P.E. class. There are so many stressors that young people have to deal with in today’s environment; P.E. should be a place for children to have fun and learn and that is the type of environment that I to provide to your child.
I have an open door policy. If at any time you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me. The best way to reach me is by email: firstname.lastname@example.org. I will return your email and/or call you back normally at the end or beginning of the school day. Once again thank you for allowing me to teach your child and I can't wait for a wonderful year!
