Hello! My name is Shubhra Khan and I’m very excited to be your fourth grade teacher this year. I would like to take this opportunity to tell you a little bit about myself. I have been teaching elementary grades for 17 years, and this will be my sixth year at Cortina. I have completed my Bachelors in Education, Bachelors in Science and further continued schooling to complete Masters in Science. I also received my gifted education endorsement this past school year. I am originally from India and moved to the United States fifteen years ago to explore the education system here, and to be closer to my father and sister who reside in California. I am married to my high-school sweetheart and have two wonderful boys, Sameer and Ayaan. My hobbies include reading, crafting, watching movies, and spending quality time with my friends and family.
I hope you all had a wonderful summer break and are ready for a great year of learning. I am looking forward to getting to know your child and working with him/her to continue his/her academic and personal growth. My fourth graders will achieve much this year in terms of academic growth, greater self-confidence, and improved social skills. I am looking forward to this school year and hope that your child gains the most from what I have to offer.
Throughout the year, I will send home notes and newsletters to keep you informed of what the class is doing. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns you may have at any time. Open communication between parent, teacher, and student is very important to your child’s academic growth. Parents are the most pivotal people in the life of a child, and I am excited to assist you in educating your child and helping them to learn and grow this school year. Looking forward to meeting you all! Go Tigers!
