I am very excited to start my 7th year at Gateway Pointe Elementary. I have a degree in Political Science with a minor in Social Work from Rider College and a Master’s in Education in Counseling from St. John’s University. My 27 years of experience has ranged working in residential treatment centers, treatment foster care programs to schools. For the last 5 years I have had the privilege to assist and support our Gator Community as our school's Social Worker.
I have 2 amazing girls. Kenzie is a 2020 graduate from Higley High and is attending Arizona State University this fall. She plans to major in Psychology. Katelyn will be in 11th grade at Higley High. She is my althlete and plays high school soccer as well as club soccer for Higley and Thunder.
As the school social worker, I will be working closely with administrators, teachers and parents to identify student who could benefit from my social skills groups. These weekly groups are designed to provide your students with valuable coping, interpersonal and behavior management skills. I will be involved in supporting teachers with classroom lessons on topics such as classroom behavior, social skills and bully awareness to encourage a positive learning environment. I am also available to assist parents, guardians and families in navigating available community resources. This year Gateway will be a No Excuses University campus. Our focus and mindset will be that all students deserve an opportunity to be educated that prepares them for college.
My goal is to foster and bring about positive behavioral and emotional changes in our students which can help them perform well in school and at home. Thank you for the opportunity to work with your children. If you have questions or concerns, feel free to contact me.
