I am very excited about beginning my 9th year at Gateway Pointe Elementary. I have a degree in Political Science with a minor in Social Work from Rider College and a Master’s in Education in Counseling from St. John’s University. My 30 years of experience began working in residential treatment centers, treatment foster care programs as well as schools. For the last 8 years, I have had the privilege to assist and support our Gator Community as our school's Social Worker.
I have 2 amazing girls. Kenzie is a 2020 graduate from Higley High and is attending Arizona State University. She is a Psychology major and enjoys working with children. Katelyn is a 2022 graduate from Higley High School and attends Northern Arizona University majoring in Interior Design & Architecture.
As the school social worker, I will be working closely with administrators, teachers and parents to identify students who would benefit from my social skills groups. These weekly groups are designed to provide students with valuable coping, interpersonal and behavior management skills using curriculum from Zones of Regulation. I will be involved in supporting teachers with classroom behaviors, behavior success plans and social skills as part of our Multi Tier System of Support to encourage a positive learning environment. I am also available to assist parents, guardians and families in navigating available community resources in regards to mental health, medical concerns, housing or food issues. Gateway Pointe Elementary is a No Excuses University campus. Our focus and mindset will be that all students deserve an opportunity to be educated and that prepares them for college.
My goal is to foster and bring about positive social, behavioral and emotional changes in our students which can help them perform well in school and at home. Thank you for the opportunity to work with your children. If you have questions or concerns, feel free to contact me.
