My name is Buffy Sanchez and this year will be my 8th year at Williams Field High School, and my 15th year teaching high school. I teach English 9 Honors and English 9. I love every aspect of teaching high school, and am incredibly thankful to have found my professional calling so long ago. I have four children, and I have been married to my husband, Adam, for almost 20 years! Adam is also a high school teacher. He teaches Biology at Higley High School.
My oldest son, Aidan, is 19 and a freshman at ASU as a Mechanical Engineering Major at the Ira A. Fulton School of Engineering (Go Devils!). He lives on campus in Tempe. My daughter, Breck, is 14 and a freshman. She is in student council and on the golf team. My daughter, Eva, is 12 and in 7th grade. She is also in student council, on the cross-country team, and a golfer. My youngest, Jagger, is in 4th grade and plays little league baseball.
I also teach two classes at ASU. I teach Stress Management Tools 1 (SWU 250), and 2 (SWU 349). These classes incorporate meditation, mindfulness, and study the bio/psycho/social aspects of wellness in order to address stress reduction and stress management. I incorporate these tools in my high school classroom. Studies show teenagers have the highest amount of stress of any age group, and I want to help my students practice healthy methods of managing their stress.
