The Higley Unified School District is pleased to offer a schedule of Sports and Enrichment Camps and Clinics with a focus on age-level activities. The programs offered strive to promote physical activity, fitness, skill development and sportsmanship. Please take a moment to view the program schedule and select an activity that meets your child’s interest and/or needs. These camps and clinics are hosted and taught by our High School, Middle School, Elementary coaches, and instructors.

WFHS Track and Field (Lifting) Camp
Williams Field Track & Field is a HUSD and AIA approved sport. We are a top-level program with top level coaching.

Summer baseball camp is intended to develop and continue development for Higley's baseball program. And to prepare for next season.

Flower Child Adventures (Summer Camp)
Flower Child Adventures helps children self-awareness while simultaneously having fun and connecting with their peers through participating in yoga, breathwork, and other mindful and team building activities.

Creative Camp & Creative Camp Junior
The purpose of Creative Camps is to explore various forms of crafting and creativity. Geared towards age-appropriate crafts that encourage dexterity and imagination. Students will have the opportunity to take home multiple projects upon completion. Students will create holiday crafts and décor. Come join in on the fun!

WFHS SWIM Camp
Stroke technique focused two-week camp for incoming freshmen and returning students. We will focus on two strokes per week along with starts and turns. Great opportunity for some valuable stroke lessons and drills with the WFHS coaches, just In time for the start of the high school season!

Sossaman Middle School Band Camps
Jump Start Beginning Band Summer Camp June 5-16 (M-F) 9:00-10:10am
Jump Start Beginning Band is available to any student entering 5th–7th grade who has never played a band
instrument or who is wanting to learn a new instrument. Jumpstart Band is designed to give students the opportunity to
learn some of the basic skills needed to play an instrument of your choice before the school year starts. Being a part of
your school band is extremely rewarding and fun to do! This program will help you get a head start.
During the program, students will learn; Instrument assembly, proper hand position, proper playing position, embouchure (mouth) formation, characteristic tone, basic music reading skills. Other Benefits: guaranteed first choice instrument in band, leader in band, gives students an idea of what band consists of before committing an entire school year.
Band Summer Camp for the Continuing Band Student June 5-16 (M-F) 10:20-11:30am
Continuing Band is available to any student entering 6th–8th grade who has played a band instrument for 1-2 years.
We will continue skills already covered in their school band. We will focus on skills to prepare you to be a leader in your band next school year.
Requirements For Class
Parents will be responsible for renting an instrument and the supplies from a music store for their child before the camp starts. The school district does not provide any instruments. Music & Arts is the preferred music dealer and you will be able to research cost to rent an instrument. If your child has no idea what instrument they would like to play, they should research the sound and look of various instruments. You may also visit your local music store to look at various instruments. Beginning instruments to choose from are: flute, clarinet, alto sax, french horn, trumpet, trombone, baritone, bells (for those who are interested in percussion). Continuing band students will play the instrument they played in school band.
Camp will run from June 5-16, Monday – Friday at Sossaman Middle School. The cost of the camp is $135 (plus the cost to rent your instrument and book purchase through the music store of your choice).

About The Instructor
Jennifer Juarros has been teaching band for 28 years. She is currently the band director at Sossaman Middle School. She loves sharing her love for instrumental music with students. David Juarros will also be assisting. He has been teaching for over 20 years and is currently the band director at Power Ranch, Bridges and Coronado.

Students will need to obtain an instrument and supplies needed from a reputable music store. The instructors
preferred music store is Music and Arts. No instruments are available through the school district for Summer
Band. Students will need the following the first day of class on June 5. All items can be purchased at your music
store of choice. Everything required for summer will be what the elementary band directors in HUSD require during the school year.

* Essential Elements Book 1 for the instrument they play
* Pencil
*Flute: cleaning rod, cleaning cloth
*Clarinet/AltoSax: swab, cork grease, reed guard, 5 reeds size 2 ½ (not chipped or split)
*Oboe: swab, cork grease, 2 reeds size medium soft
*Trumpet/Baritone/French Horn: valve oil, slide grease, cleaning cloth
*Trombone: slide oil, slide grease, cleaning cloth
*Percussion (bells/drums): a “bell kit” that includes a stand to hold the bells, a practice pad, mallets, snare sticks. During camp, we will only use the bells. Once in elementary band, they will use the entire kit.

About Mr. Brewer
Mr. Brewer has taught for 20 years and is currently teaching general music, choir and trash can band at Bridges Elementary. Prior to this, Mr. Brewer taught 5th-8th grade band for 15 years, as well as various general music classes, choirs and trash can bands throughout the Higley Unified School District.

WFHS Basketball Summer Camp
The fun youth basketball camp is designed to help kids learn and improve their basketball skills in a fun and engaging way. The camp is open to all skill levels and will be led by experienced coaches who are passionate about teaching the game. The camp will include various drills and exercises that will focus on improving dribbling, passing, shooting, and defense. In addition to skill-building activities, the camp will also include fun games and competitions that will keep the kids engaged and motivated. The goal of the camp is to help kids develop a love for the game of basketball while building their confidence and skills.

WFHS Volleyball Summer Camp
Former College Coaches, current Professional/Colligate Athletes and High School coaches will be offering Summer Volleyball Camps for all boys and girls grades k-12. Instruction of various skills, skills technique, offence, and defense strategies will be taught to prepare athletes to compete in their various playing levels. We are excited to work with volleyball athletes from all over the state. This will be a great warm up for girl’s high school season tryouts and boys club USA tryouts which both take place in early August.
