I've taught English classes at Higley High School for 14 years now, and I'm looking forward to another year with the amazing teens in our community. There is truly no other place I'd rather be each day than with my students, sharing the heart wrenching and heartwarming literature of the world and guiding them to become global thinkers as they take their reading and writing skills to the next level. In addition to having taught high school English, including freshman, sophomore, junior, senior, and AZ State test prep courses, as well as Dual Enrollment English 101/102, AP Language & Composition, and AP World History/Honors English 10 Blend. I have also taught online classes for Rio Salado College and for University of Phoenix for 10 years. I have also written Literature and ACT English curriculum for Learnerator, and I've published a writer’s guide and workbook, "Writing Essays Made Easy." I think it is safe to say I LOVE what I do. When I am not teaching or writing, I enjoy spending time with my husband, Nathan, and two children, Emma (12) and Jack (10), who currently attend Sossaman Middle School and Cortina Elementary School respectively and who look forward to becoming Higley Knights someday.
In this day of advanced technology, the ability to communicate via the written word is not only extremely powerful, it is a necessity. Equally important, if not more so, is the ability to seek out, recognize, and value diverse cultures and perspectives. I feel extremely blessed to have the opportunity to help students expand their understanding and enhance their abilities so they can use reading and writing to advance their education and their future careers and to enrich their personal lives in ways they don't yet realize are possible.
