I have 28 years experience as a speech pathologist. I am also bilingual and speak English and Spanish fluently. I am very excited to be working at Higley Traditional Academy this school year. This is a wonderful school filled with great, caring teachers and staff working together to see your child gets the best education and succeed in school.
The speech and language program services children who have difficulties in the following: articulation, receptive and expressive language skills,social language skills(pragmatics), voice and fluency delays. These are issues that can impact your child's progress in the educational setting. Your child will be pulled out for either direct services or inclusion services or consultation services.
We also have a program called Speech Improvement Program, which is an intervention program for any student that might have developmental or any communication weakness and it is part of the general education program. It is not an IEP, rather it is a program that addresses the child's communication weakness and the SLP/SLPA works with your child for limited time per week to improve their communication needs.
