Welcome to the 2020-2021 school year! My name is Laura Garcia. At this time, I want to let you know a little about myself. This will be my 17th year teaching second grade at Power Ranch but, my 18th year teaching. I feel very fortunate to be part of the Power Ranch staff! Prior to working at Power Ranch, I taught 3rd grade in Fresno, California. I received my BA in Education from California State University, Fresno. I also have a Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in reading from NAU. I have two boys, Matthew who is 9 years old and Bryan who is 8 years old. Matthew will be a 4th grader and Bryan will be a 3rd grader here at Power Ranch. I love spending time with my family. My husband and I enjoy taking our boys to the park, going on walks, and taking trips to California.
I believe that being a teacher brings many responsibilities. Teachers have the power of educating their students the best they can. Children are the future; therefore, we can teach them that education is the path to success. As your child's teacher, I will do my best to create a classroom environment that will allow students to feel comfortable and confident. It is extremely important for students to be part of a safe and friendly learning environment. I believe that staff, administrators, teachers, and parents should work together. Working together makes the year turn out to be a fabulous one. No matter how good a teacher may be, students still need that extra support and reinforcement from home. Parents are always welcome to come in to help and be part of their child's education. Communication is an important key component. Please feel free to contact me whenever you have a question or concern. My email is email@example.com and my phone number is 279-7680.
Students will be learning many great things like Matter, Maps, Globes, Native American Tribes, and the Westward Expansion. Please ask your child what new and exciting things they have learned at school each day. I am very excited for this new school year!
