My name is Grace Yum and I graduated from Ithaca College with a Bachelor of Music degree in Piano Performance and Music Education. I also completed a Master of Music degree in Piano Performance at Arizona State University (ASU) and all the course work for the Master of Music in Music Education. I met my husband while studying at ASU and we have made our home here ever since. I grew up in Alaska, so I’m a huge fan of the dry heat and the multitude of sunny days we enjoy here.

I have taught General Music at Cortina Elementary since it’s opening in 2006. The community and families have been very supportive of the staff and students at Cortina for the entirety of my tenure here. It’s truly been a pleasure guiding the students to learn and watching them grow in their musicianship!

Prior to teaching general music in the public school, I taught with the Phoenix Boys Choir and private piano lessons at the Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts. Teaching and bringing the joy of music to students has always been my passion. Outside of school and music, my hobbies include Pilates, audio books and Sudoku puzzles.
