Dear Cortina Families,
Welcome to the 2019-2020 school year!
Being the principal at Cortina is truly an honor. This year will mark my seventh year serving this amazing community! As principal, I bring with me 21 years of educational experience. Over the past years, I have been a paraprofessional, a classroom teacher, an instructional coach, a dean, and an assistant principal. Working with children keeps me young-at-heart and inspires me to continue learning and challenging myself personally and professionally. I am an Arizona Native and enjoy traveling, running, and spending time with friends and family.
The teachers and staff at Cortina are proud of our history of academic excellence and believe in every child's ability to learn. We are dedicated to ensuring that when students enter our doors, they are well cared for and provided with the best educational opportunities. Teachers and staff will work endlessly to meet the unique academic, social and emotional needs of each student. At Cortina, we maintain high expectations for our students and ourselves. We want our students to know that academic struggle is a part of the learning process and that mistakes along the way are okay. In fact, doing “hard things” and making mistakes is, often, when the greatest learning occurs! It is our obligation and commitment to provide a supportive, well-rounded, appropriately challenging educational foundation for students so that they are prepared to think critically, be productive, and make positive contributions to our world.
I am thrilled to begin this upcoming school year and I cannot wait to see all of our students on July 22! Please feel free to contact me with any celebrations or concerns you may have. When we work collaboratively together, your child's educational experience will be enhanced. Thank you for trusting us with your child's education.
