Dear Cortina families,
I am most excited to begin the 2021-2022 school year at Cortina as your new Assistant Principal. This year marks my 17th year as an educator, and I am so grateful to continue the “heart work” of teaching and learning as a Cortina Tiger! Prior to Cortina, I have served the roles of elementary teacher, instructional coach, and dean of students. Each role has uniquely shaped my philosophies and pedagogy. Working with children is my passion and that passion is reignited each school year as new challenges and opportunities for growth present themselves. I am most proud of the relationships I have formed with students and families over the years and am a firm believer in the power of a strong home and school connection. Together, I know this school year will be amazing!
As an Arizona native, I spent my childhood growing up in Tucson and loving the desert scenery. I moved to Flagstaff and attended NAU for college and grew to appreciate the variety of landscape across our state. I continue to enjoy getting out in the sunshine bike riding, swimming, and gardening. My husband and I ventured North to Mesa in 2018 and are enjoying life in the valley, particularly all the amazing local eateries. When the sun gets a bit too warm, you can find me inside with our cat, Joplin reading a great book, scrapbooking our many travel adventures, and learning how to sew. I also love spending time with my family and friends!
I cannot wait to meet each of you and get to know you as the year moves forward. Please do not hesitate to reach out to me with any celebrations or concerns you may have at all this school year.
