Welcome to the 2020-2021 School Year
I am excited to begin my third year as Assistant Principal of Cortina Elementary. This will be my 23rd year in education. I graduated from Grand Canyon University with a degree in Elementary Education. In addition, I hold a Masters of Science from California State Hayward and a Masters in Leadership from Grand Canyon University. Growing up, I knew I wanted to be in the field of education, and I am fortunate to continue with a school and community that hold a special place in my heart. I had the privilege of helping to open Cortina 14 years ago. I look forward to serving Cortina Elementary and the community.
As we begin this year, we face new academic challenges. At Cortina, we believe in “achieving personal excellence, one child at a time” whether that is done through remote or in-person learning. In both platforms, our teachers and staff will work to build relationships and help students achieve academic success. As the assistant principal, I will work to support students academically, socially, and emotionally. I believe in the potential of each student, and realize we are not just preparing them for the next grade, but for the future. This preparation will include experiences that are challenging, relevant, and meet the needs of the individual student.
I am looking forward to supporting the students, staff, and community of Cortina. I believe in open communication and a strong home to school connection. Please feel free to contact me with any celebrations or concerns you may have. It is exciting to think about all that we will achieve working together. Let’s make this year great!
