Williams Field High School has opened an on-campus Thrift Shop, dedicated to providing free, high-quality clothing to those in need within the school community. This initiative reflects the district’s #HigleyHelps mission to make a positive impact while fostering a spirit of generosity and service among its students and staff.
The Thrift Shop was made possible through the efforts of Williams Field High School softball coach Kerry Reeder, who organized the project with the help of several softball team players. Williams Field High School junior Addison Rotier said, "I think the thrift shop is a great asset to the school. It's a new part of the community we’ve never had before."
Running the Thrift Shop allows students to learn valuable life skills, including responsibility, teamwork, and compassion. Students are actively involved in organizing, restocking, and managing the shop, gaining hands-on experience while learning the importance of service and community engagement.
“I think that’s one of the coolest things about this. Kids are giving back to the community, and that’s important,” said Reeder. Through their involvement, these young leaders create a welcoming space for those who rely on this valuable resource.
The Thrift Shop is open for students and staff at Williams Field during its designated hours: 6:45–7:15 a.m. before school and 2:15–2:45 p.m. after school on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Community members are able to stop by and drop off clothing donations for the school’s Thrift Shop at the front office, where staff will collect and add them to the store.
