HUSD News Stories
The Higley Unified School District (HUSD) hosted its annual District Spelling Bee on January 9, 2025, showcasing the exceptional talents of 22 outstanding students from 4th grade through 8th grade. These participants earned their spots in the district-level competition by excelling in their campus-level spelling bees, where only the top two spellers from each school advanced to represent their campuses at the Regional Spelling Bee.
This event is scheduled for Wednesday, February 12th, at 9:00 a.m. at the Chandler Center for the Arts.
HUSD is thrilled to congratulate first place winner Ryan Prawira Trigno, a 7th-grade student from Cooley Middle School, and second place winner Shyla Abreu, a 7th-grade student from Sossaman Middle School. Both Ryan and Shyla will proudly represent HUSD at the Regional Spelling Bee, demonstrating their hard work, determination, and dedication to excellence.
The annual spelling bee is a true celebration of learning and achievement district-wide, reflecting the limitless opportunities that HUSD fosters for its students. Best of luck to Ryan and Shyla as they advance to the next stage—Higley is rooting for you!
