HUSD News Stories
Higley Unified School District (HUSD) remains an A-Rated school district. The Arizona Department of Education announced school and district letter grades this week, based on academic performance and student achievement growth. Higley is in the top tier of Local Education Agencies (LEAs) in the state that earned an “A” rating.
Eleven of the 14 K-12 schools in the district earned an “A” rating, with several schools giving Higley more reason to celebrate. Coronado, Bridges, San Tan, Cortina, Centennial, Chaparral, and Higley Traditional Academy are all in the top 15% of K-8s in Arizona for total points earned. Higley High School and Williams Field High School are both in the top 25% of traditional 9-12 schools (does not include high schools that serve 7-12 such as Casteel, Basha, Gilbert High School).
According to the Arizona State Board of Education, the A-F accountability system measures year to year student academic growth including proficiency in English language arts, math and science, as well as indicators students are ready to their next level of education or career.
Superintendent Sherry Richards is excited to add another A-Rated banner to the district, showcasing pride in the success of Higley students. “This rating acknowledges the teamwork that goes into educating our students and preparing learners for limitless opportunities. We have exceptional educators at all of our schools, and this speaks to the dedication and commitment of our teachers, administrators and staff, as well as the hard work and effort of our students.”
