Higley Unified School District (HUSD) prepares learners for limitless opportunities by providing the resources and experiences needed to discover their passions and develop the skills necessary for success, no matter which path they choose after graduation. Through events like College and Career Fairs, Higley students are empowered to explore various career options, helping them identify the paths that best align with their interests and goals.

College and Career Specialist at Williams Field High School Jacqueline Novak says, “Preparing for life requires specialized training in any industry, so researching the pathway to success is a crucial aspect while in high school. With many options available, such as college/university, trade schools, micro-credentials, and state credentialing, all of which require some educational preparation and training.”

She continued, “We have amazing opportunities through our Tri-State University system, supported by the Arizona Board of Regents, that can help students gain access to merit scholarships. These scholarships, based on GPA and ACT/SAT scores, can significantly reduce tuition costs. We are motivated to support every student in our district in reaching their professional goals in any way needed.”

HUSD’s commitment to the Portrait of a Graduate initiative prioritizes teaching students to become college and career ready scholars. This strategic priority is embedded in several levels of the K-12 experience throughout HUSD, from the No Excuses University program at Gateway Elementary, to the career exploration opportunities in middle and high schools.

Caleb Castro, a senior at Williams Field High School emphasized the value of the College and Career Fair, saying, “The College and Career Fair was a great experience because I was able to explore many colleges around the nation.  Speaking to these colleges helped me learn about their programs and where I wanted to go to have the best opportunities for the career I wanted in sports journalism.”

At HUSD, we are dedicated to preparing every student to lead, innovate, and make a positive impact in their chosen fields. To further support these goals, we will be hosting our next College & Career Fair on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, at Williams Field High School. We invite all parents, students, and community members to come and be a part of this great event.
