As the school year approaches, we want to ensure that our HUSD students and families are well-prepared. Below is a list of important things to know before the new school year begins. Have yet to enroll? Explore our various neighborhood schools to find the perfect fit for your student here.
Back to School Important Dates
First Day of School is Thursday, July 23, 2026
School Supply Lists 2026-2027
Early Childhood Development Centers
- Backpack
- Water bottle
- A change of clothes in a Ziploc bag
Parents will receive a welcome email from their student's teacher the afternoon of July 20, 2026, with any additional items that will be needed for class.
Please note: Due to safety concerns, students are no longer able to wear any kind of light-up footwear at school.
Middle Schools
The followings items are recommended for purchase prior to the start of the academic school year. A more detailed list will be provided throughout the first week of instruction.
- blue or black pens
- highlights
- #2 pencils with erasers
- 1 college ruled composition book
- 1 one subject college ruled notebook
- ear/headphones (must be corded)
- additional supplies to be determined by teacher preferences
High Schools
There are no issued supply lists for high school.
Teachers will issue individual syllabi at the beginning of the year, which may include specific items needed for each class.
