• Dear Parents and Students,

I am so excited to start out another year in second grade at Coronado Elementary School! My name is Jill Coster and I am the English side of the 2nd grade Mandarin Immersion Program. Your child will be in my classroom for half of the school day getting instruction in phonics, reading, grammar, writing, and social studies. Then your child will spend the other half of the day with the second grade Mandarin teacher getting instruction in Mandarin, math, and science. You are going to love being part of the second grade Mandarin program!

I thought you might want to know a little bit about me. I am originally from Chicago, Illinois but grew up in Downers Grove, Illinois. I graduated from the University of Saint Francis with a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education in 2008 and a middle school endorsement in language arts and social studies, I worked for the Plainfield School District from 2008-2015. In July of 2015, I moved to Arizona and taught third grade at Legacy Traditional School in Gilbert for four years. In 2019, I joined the Coronado family and have been teaching the English side of the second grade Mandarin program. I love reading and will share my enthusiasm for books with your child. I enjoy hiking, camping, and attending Cub games with my family. I am a HUGE Chicago Cubs fan!!

Teaching is an absolute passion of mine! I am so excited to work with you and your child. It is my mission to instill the love of learning in my students. Your child will have positive learning experiences in my classroom, so he/she develops a desire to become a lifelong learner. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns. It is so important to keep communication open between up and I would love to talk to you whenever you feel the need (email me at jill.coster@husd.org or call  (480) 279-6900). I look forward to a great year together!

    Sincerely,

    Jill Coster
