Cafeteria Food Waste

At Bridges Elementary, some students interviewed the lunch aides. Here's what they had to say.
The most wasted food in the cafeteria is broccoli and salad! During an interview with the Bridges Elementary lunch ladies, they said that every kid has to have some sort of fruit or vegetable on their plate. Even though they are required to take a fruit or vegetable, it doesn't always mean that they eat it! The lunch aides have also been working on spicing up to menu so that the food will appeal more to the kids.

When asked how much salad was left over at the end of the day, the lunch aides told us that there were over 25 servings of salad left over each day. That means, in one week, over 125 servings of salad are being thrown away and wasted. Our hope is that we can take the wasted food and give it to people who need it.
