Higley High School senior Draycen Hall graduates in May as a well-recognized leader in athletics, academics and the Higley community.
Throughout his four years, Hall participated in three sports — football, track and wrestling — while showing further leadership in Unified Sports. While recognized as a Student of the Month, Gatorade Player of the Year and more, he said he most felt like a leader when he was selected as captain of the football team.
“[Being selected by teammates] shows to me that people are watching me and that I did a decent job over the past years, and that they like what I did and agree with me being a leader,” Hall said.
After his four years at Higley High, Hall said he learned the importance of leading by example, and grew comfortable meeting new people and sticking up for those who need it.
“A lot of people may be going through some hard times, so it’s good to have someone that they can look up to and lean on when they’re struggling,” he said.
As he serves a mission for his church and plays football at Southern Utah University after graduation, Hall said he will be unafraid to speak out and introduce himself to new people, thanks to the community he has seen at Higley High.
“I’ve kind of grown to love everyone here and I think that we all look out for each other,” Hall said. “We want to make an impact on the world.”
