• 3rd-6th GATE Program Model
    Cluster Model with Academic Acceleration

    Students identified as gifted or talented in grades 3, 4, 5 and 6 are clustered together with a classroom teacher who has or is working toward a gifted endorsement. Students are ability grouped for math instruction. Curriculum compacting allows for students to work at and above grade level. The site gifted specialist provides push-in support for math acceleration. The site gifted specialist provides resources for curriculum and instruction.
     
    For example: In math, 3rd grade students learn 3rd and 4th grade math concepts and skills.
     
    In English Language Arts, students standards based instruction will allow students to explore on grade level and above grade level standards as well as read novels that are at a Lexile level commensurate with their reading level.
     
    Students engage in discussion, critical reading and book clubs to develop their reading comprehension and further their passion for reading.
     
    Enrichment opportunities offered through before or afterschool clubs which allow for interest and choice in participation.
     
    Before- or after-school enrichment by a gifted specialist or designated teacher may be available.
