• Dear Graduates, Parents, and HHS Community,

We are looking forward to honoring and celebrating the class of 2020 in a virtual commencement ceremony that will be broadcast on Thursday, May 21st at 9:30 for HHS and 2:30 for WFHS. You will be able to access and watch the Class of 2020’s commencement ceremony from the following links:

      Higley High School: http://higleycenter.org/hctv-hhs2020.htm

      Willliams Field High School: http://higleycenter.org/hctv-wfhs2020.htm

These virtual ceremonies will be customized to each campus and will honor and highlight your Class of 2020.  An hour after the conclusion of the graduation video on graduation day, the ceremony will be available on demand.  In addition, there will be a download link available at that time.

Your diploma and the program for your graduation ceremony will be sent to you in the mail following the commencement ceremony. Please contact our Registrar, Marjorie Scott if you need to update your mailing address at 480-279-7312 or marjorie.scott@husd.org no later than Monday, May 18.

In addition, Lou Coopey has been working with both schools to capture graduation photographs and we have provided instructions for ordering those below.

We are so proud of the Class of 2020!

Senior Students and Parents and Guardians,

By this time you should have received an email confirming your virtual graduation check-in time.  If you have not received an email with your time please call (480) 279-7313

      Senior Student,

Congratulations! You are invited to participate in the virtual graduation ceremony for the class of 2020.  It is important that you show up at your designated time to ensure that you are included in the production.

You are scheduled to arrive on Higley High School campus in the student parking lot May 11 at your check-in time based on your appointment email.  Please call 480-279-7313 if you did not receive a check-in time email.  You should be dressed and ready in your graduation cap and gown.  Only school issued graduation regalia will be permitted.  Staff will assist you and direct you from the parking lot through the entire process and then back to your car. Only students will be allowed on campus, in the parking lot, and in the HCPA.  Parents who will provide transportation can drop students off in the North parking lot, but parents will not be allowed on the campus.  This will allow us to provide a safe environment that complies with social distancing requirements.  While we want to be as efficient as possible, note that this could last up to an hour and a half.

Once students arrive, we will split them into groups no bigger than 10 students as they wait to record their video portion.  We have worked hard to utilize social distancing and safety protocols from the time students leave the parking lot to their return to their cars.  We have plans in place to sanitize rooms and surfaces in between each recording group.

Again congratulations, and we can’t wait to celebrate this event with you!

On behalf of all our teachers, counselors, staff and coaches, we sincerely hope you and your families are safe and healthy during this time.

We are moving forward with production of virtual graduation ceremonies for both schools. The production will include the biographical information and tassel turning video you have sent in.

We will additionally have students scheduled to come, in small groups that comply with the Governor's guidelines, to walk across the stage in your cap and gown at the HCPA. You will receive an email next week inviting your student to their required time to walk across the stage in the ceremony.

Only students will be allowed on campus, in the parking lot, and in the HCPA.  Parents who provide transportation can drop students off in the North parking lot, but parents will not be allowed on the campus. This will allow us to provide a safe environment that complies with social distancing requirements. While we want to be as efficient as possible, note that this could last up to an hour and a half.

Higley High School will be recording students on stage May 11th. Williams Field High School will be recording students on stage May 12th. Each school will send you an email with the invitation to your required time for your walk across the stage.

We are so proud of the Class of 2020 and acknowledge the grace you have shown.  Although we cannot safely celebrate together, this will not stop the commencement that will honor your graduating class. We realize that this outcome cannot begin to replace the in-person experience that we would have wanted for you; however, ultimately the health and safety of you, your family and our Higley community is our top priority. At this time, we will celebrate you and your academic accomplishments the best way that we can during this unprecedented time in our history.

      Sincerely,

      Alan Fields and Steve Tannenbaum

      HHS and WFHS Principals

      Higley Knight Seniors and Families,

On behalf of all our teachers, counselors, staff and coaches, we sincerely hope you and your families are safe and healthy during this time. Students thank you for your hard work and efforts to continue your instruction as we continue to face the impact of this global pandemic together. We are so proud of the Class of 2020 and acknowledge the grace you have shown during this time.

In light of Governor Ducey’s recent announcement that confirms that large groups of people cannot safely gather as a reality of this global health crisis, we unfortunately will have to officially cancel the in-person commencement ceremony that was scheduled to take place at ASU Desert Financial Arena on Thursday, May 21, 2020, at 9:30 a.m. for HHS and 2:30 p.m. for WFHS.

Instead we will honor and celebrate the class of 2020 in a virtual commencement ceremony that will be broadcast on Thursday, May 21st at 9:30 for HHS and 2:30 for WFHS. You will be able to access and watch the Class of 2020’s commencement ceremony from the following links:

      Higley High School: http://higleycenter.org/hctv-hhs2020.htm

      Willliams Field High School: http://higleycenter.org/hctv-wfhs2020.htm

These virtual ceremonies will be customized to each campus and will honor and highlight your Class of 2020 and will include the aspects of a traditional graduation ceremony that would have been part of the event if we could have safely held this in person. Your diploma and the program for your graduation ceremony will be sent to you in the mail following this date. You will also receive a refund for the graduation fee as soon as possible.

      Sincerely,

      Dr. Mike Thomason

      Superintendent

Official senior transcripts will be available on Parchment in June of 2020. Seniors should establish a Parchment account by April 2020 and put an order in for a final transcript. This will generate a transcript to the student after all grades are final in June.
