• Frequently Asked Questions

We are new to Higley Unified School District, but my child was part of the gifted program in their previous school, are they eligible for the gifted program in HUSD?

A: Arizona and Higley Unified School District follow specific criteria for identifying students as gifted and talented. Per state mandate, students who score at or above the 97th percentile on a state approved ability test are eligible for gifted services. HUSD also considers students who score 95th and 96th percentile.  Evidence of academic achievement as measured by advanced/highly proficient scores on state approved tests are required for placement consideration.
Please follow the steps below for program eligibility:
    1. Submit most recent cognitive ability test results such as CogAT, OLSAT, NNAT, WISC V, Stanford Binet to the school gifted specialist, or refer to the list of state approved tests found here: cms.azed.gov
    2. Submit most recent state/district achievement test history to the site gifted specialist
    3. The gifted office will communicate program eligibility upon review of test history
