Every Student Succeeds Act: Foster CareK-12 students who are living in foster care have rights and provisions guaranteed to them under the federal Every Student Succeeds Act. The purpose of this act is to provide educational stability and support for children and youths in foster care.
Foster Student Provisions:
- A foster child may remain in the same school if it’s in his/her best interest.
- Receive transportation to and/or from school even if living out of district.
- Receive free breakfast and lunch at school.
